Under the administration of President Michelle Bachelet, the Chilean Army has acquired 2, 000 million dollars in weapons manufacturated in France, China, Israel, Netherlands, Germany and the US.

The Chilean Army has recently acquired military equipment such as artillery, fighter aircrafts, Anti-Aircraft Artillery (AAA) and other weapons through a 2, 000 million dollars spend. This action follows the pattern that many countries in the region have established, by increasing its military expenditures by a very considerable amount. The increase of Chilean military expenditures was followed by manoeuvres of the Argentinean and Chilean Air Forces; action that depicts the possibility of this Latin American country to respond against any foreign aggression.

Is the duty of the countries in the Disarmament and International Security Committee to reduce their military expenditures as soon as possible, in order to either reduce the international tension or to prevent further multinational confrontations.
