DISC: Crisis Situation. ================================================================================ Disarmament and Internati 2009 on 23 October, 2009 09:46:00 Disarmament and International Security Committee Press Office Crisis Situation October 23, 2009 Document issued by the 1st commission of the General Assembly the Disarmament and International Security Committee 4 hours ago, the UN inspectors deployed on Iranian nuclear plants, have issued their report concerning the uranium enrichment programme of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This report announced the detection of enriched uranium designated for further implementation on nuclear warheads. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that if Iran achieves the construction of a nuclear weapon, the Islamic Republic is not going to use it for any hostile action against any State. President Ahmadinejad openly confessed that the military nuclear technology was developed in order to prevent any invasive action coming from foreign countries. Moreover, intelligence agencies from the United States of America, the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China and Israel found out that the technology required for the development of enriched uranium reclaimable for the construction of nuclear weapons and many high-tech weaponry that could be used to perpetrate guerrilla attacks in the region was provided by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. For the moment, the United Nations and multinational intelligence services have tried to gather more information about the situation. This crisis will be further submitted to the United Nations Security Council; however is the duty of the Disarmament and International Security Committee to analyse the situation concerning the proliferation of nuclear materials before it is remitted to any other UN body. It is important to remember that the DISC is not empowered to establish any kind of sanction against any belligerent State; nevertheless, it can make suggestions to the Security Council in order to apply the appropriate measures with the purpose of preserving the international peace and security.
